Data Processing by Social Networks
We operate publicly accessible profiles on social networks. The specific social networks we
use are listed below.
Social networks such as Facebook or X generally offer extensive analysis of your user
behavior when you visit their websites or websites that have integrated social media content
(e.g. like buttons or advertising banners). Visiting our social media profiles may trigger a
variety of data protection-related processing operations. Specifically:
If you are logged into your social media account and visit our profile, the operator of the
social media platform can associate your visit with your user account. However, your
personal data may also be collected even if you are not logged in or do not have an account
with the respective social media platform. This data collection may occur via cookies stored
on your device or through the capture of your IP address.
Using this data, the social media platforms can create user profiles in which your
preferences and interests are stored. This allows interest-based advertising to be displayed
to you both within and outside the social media platforms. If you have an account with the
respective network, this advertising can appear across all devices where you are or have
been logged in.
Please note that we do not have full control over all data processing procedures on the
social media platforms. Depending on the provider, additional operations may be carried out
by the platform operators. For details, please refer to the respective platforms’ terms of use
and privacy policies.
-
Legal Basis
-
Our social media presence aims to provide the broadest possible visibility on the internet.
This constitutes a legitimate interest within the meaning of Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR. The analysis
processes initiated by social networks may be based on differing legal grounds which must
be declared by the respective network operators (e.g. consent pursuant to Art. 6 (1) lit. a
GDPR).
-
Joint Responsibility & Exercising Your Rights
When you visit one of our social media profiles (e.g. on Facebook), we are jointly
responsible with the platform operator for the data processing operations triggered during
your visit. You may generally exercise your rights (access, rectification, deletion, restriction of
processing, data portability, and complaints) both with us and directly with the operator (e.g.
Facebook).
Please note that despite joint responsibility, our influence on data processing by the platform
operators is limited. Our ability to act is largely governed by the corporate policies of the
respective provider.
-
Data Retention
Data we collect directly via our social media presence will be deleted from our systems as
soon as you request deletion, revoke your consent to storage, or the purpose for storing the
data no longer applies. Cookies remain on your device until you delete them. Statutory
retention obligations remain unaffected.
We have no control over how long your data is stored by social network operators for their
own purposes. For details, please refer directly to the respective providers (see their privacy
policies below).
-
Your Rights
You have the right at any time to request information free of charge about the origin,
recipients, and purpose of your stored personal data. You also have the right to object, to
data portability, and to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.
Additionally, you may request the correction, blocking, or deletion of your data, and under
certain circumstances, the restriction of its processing.
